About Brilliant Solar

Brilliant Solar Sdn Bhd has operated since 2008, originally under the name MySolar Pro, before rebranding as Brilliant Solar in 2014. It is based in Selangor, with a head office in the Cheras/Seri Kembangan area and a branch in Butterworth, Penang. It designs, supplies, installs and maintains solar PV systems for residential, commercial and industrial customers across Peninsular Malaysia, and says it was one of six companies registered under Malaysia's first Feed-in Tariff (FIT) policy round.

It lists commercial and industrial projects including a 224.77 kWp system for a plastics manufacturer in Semenyih, a 174.60 kWp system for a CNC machining plant in Sungai Buloh, and a 108.9 kWp system for a poultry farm in Sungai Jawi, Penang, each with a company-stated monthly savings figure. It also says it has installed systems for more than 3,500 residential and commercial sites, and that its solar power systems carry a 30-year manufacturer warranty.

Customers pay a RM1,000 deposit (commercial) or RM500 application fee (residential) and can arrange financing if needed, per its website. Documents are then submitted to SEDA for licensing, with installation following within three months of approval; after final payment, it submits a report to SEDA, MIDA and the Energy Commission (ST) where required. It also says it is registered under the MyHijau Mark and CIDB.

How a Brilliant Solar project runs

1. Deposit and financing: Customers pay a RM1,000 deposit (commercial) or RM500 application fee (residential); financing can be arranged if needed.
2. SEDA licensing application: Documents are submitted to SEDA for the licensing application, and the customer waits for approval.
3. Installation: Solar panels are installed within three months of approval, by installers it describes as having extensive on-site experience.
4. Final payment and reporting: After final payment, it submits a detailed report to SEDA, MIDA and the Energy Commission (ST) where applicable.

Ask for the panel and inverter models in your quote, and get the warranties in writing.

• Ask for the panel and inverter brands used — the website doesn't name any specific manufacturers.
• Its website advertises a 30-year manufacturer warranty on the solar power system; ask to see the actual warranty document and what it covers.
