About Northern Solar

Northern Solar is a publicly listed solar EPCC (engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning) group with certified in-house engineers and chargemen, headquartered in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Its website describes it as a subsidiary of Northern Solar Holdings Berhad, with branches in Johor Bahru, Bukit Mertajam (Penang) and Kota Kinabalu (Sabah). It installs residential rooftop, commercial and industrial, and utility-scale solar, plus battery energy storage systems (BESS).

It says it has completed more than 2,700 solar projects on commercial, industrial and residential buildings. Its published project list includes home systems from 4.9 kWp in Saujana Melawati, Kuala Lumpur, to 29.75 kWp in Ara Damansara, Selangor, and larger commercial and industrial systems such as 2,302.72 kWp in Gurun, Kedah, and 2,164.56 kWp in Bayan Lepas, Penang. These figures are the company's own.

Its residential calculator explains 'NEM3.0' net metering and a 'SELCO' self-consumption-only option, and it lists financing methods for homeowners — credit card, personal loan and cash payment.

Before you get a quote from Northern Solar

• Ask whether they handle Solar ATAP applications. Its residential page still describes 'NEM3.0', which Solar ATAP replaced on 1 January 2026, even though its own news section separately discusses ATAP.
• Ask for the specific panel and inverter brands in writing; its 'Technical Vendors' page names only categories, not brands.
• Get the product and performance warranty terms in writing; none are published in the pages we accessed.
• The SSM number shown on its website (201901040021 / 1349351-T) is registered to 'Northern Solar Sdn Bhd', not the 'Northern Solar Rakyat Sdn. Bhd.' name on the SEDA register — confirm which entity would be on your contract.
