About TNB Energy Services

TNB Energy Services Sdn Bhd (TNBES), based in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). It says it was formed as a TNB subsidiary in 1997 under Tenaga SPL Sdn Bhd, became wholly TNB-owned in 2000, and was rebranded to its current name in 2003. It provides energy engineering services across Malaysia spanning power distribution, energy efficiency, power quality, smart street lighting, integrated facility management and renewable energy, including solar hybrid systems, mini hydro and rural electrification.

It says it was appointed turnkey contractor for a Solar Hybrid Power System in Kudat, Sabah in 2009, and in 2012 delivered its Rural Solar Initiative, generating 850 kW peak solar electricity serving 342 consumers including homes, mosques, government offices, clinics and schools. By 2020, it says it operated over 28.2 MW of renewable energy plants nationwide. Its listed recent projects include rehabilitating 4 Solar Hybrid Systems in Peninsular Malaysia, operating and maintaining 12 Solar Hybrid Systems in Sabah, and rehabilitating 6 Solar Hybrid Systems on Pulau Mersing. It has also received industry recognition, including ASEAN Energy Awards for solar hybrid and landfill gas power projects, and was named Organisation of the Year in Clean Energy Integration & Financing at the Green Finance Excellence Awards 2026.
